Guidance Through Complex Legal Systems
Our Civil and Human Rights program provides assistance with legal documentation, notarizations, referrals to attorneys, and guidance through complex systems such as Social Security and foreign consulates. We work to protect rights, promote access to justice, and ensure individuals can confidently complete critical legal processes.
Cuban, Haitian, Nicaraguan, and Venezuelan Paroles Program (CHNV)
This program is for current or prospective sponsors and beneficiaries arriving in Michigan through the Cuban, Haitian, Nicaraguan, and Venezuelan Paroles Program (CHNV). DHS has announced processes through which nationals of Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela, and their immediate family members, may request to come to the United States in a safe and orderly way. Qualified beneficiaries who are outside the United States and lack U.S. entry documents may be considered, on a case-by-case basis, for advanced authorization to travel and a temporary period of parole for up to two years for urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit.
Family Reunification Parole (FRP)
The family reunification parole (FRP) processes are available by invitation only to certain petitioners who filed an approved Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, on behalf of a principal beneficiary who is a national of Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, or Honduras, and their immediate family members. These processes allow an eligible beneficiary to be considered for parole into the United States on a case-by-case basis while they wait for their family-based immigrant visa to become available.
Referrals to Attorneys for Legal Representation
Clients or families who are from Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, or Honduras that want to apply for asylum for the first time, arriving in the US after January 1, 2023, can request a consultation with Olga, or they can contact one of the non-profit immigration agencies or a private attorney.
If clients or families have a pending asylum case with an attorney, HCWM cannot take over the case.

We provide comprehensive family support services, including Community Support Navigation, Ready by Five (early childhood support), MDHHS benefits assistance, senior services, food access programs, and health and wellness initiatives. Our bilingual team helps families access resources that promote stability, health, and long-term success.
Who qualifies for your family support programs?
Our programs are designed to serve families, seniors (aged 60+), expecting mothers, children under five, refugees, and individuals experiencing food insecurity or barriers to healthcare access. Eligibility may vary by program; our team can help determine which services are the best fit for you.
How do I apply for assistance or schedule an appointment?

Do you provide food assistance for families?
Yes, we offer monthly Food Distribution, the Senior Food Box Program, and the Fresh Food Fair, which provides enrolled families with biweekly fresh produce and nutrition education. These programs help reduce food insecurity and promote healthy eating.
What support is available for pregnant women and young children?
Through the Ready by Five initiative, we connect families to early childhood resources, maternal health services, and community programs that support healthy development. Our team ensures families receive personalized guidance from pregnancy through early childhood.
